Our Story
In 2012, Longe Optical became part of the Sweet Family of Companies, having been purchased by Sweetwater Founder Chuck Surack. Since then, the Sweet Family mentality of doing the right thing, every time, has been applied to every aspect of how we treat our guests.

High-tech labs
In 1949, founder E. J. Longe revolutionized the eyewear buying experience by offering the area’s first same-day service and glasses at unheard-of prices. Today, Longe is once again reinventing what you’ve come to expect from glasses with our on-site digital lab. Our goal is to provide our customers with the best lenses you’ll find anywhere!
We produce all of our HD digital lenses right here in Fort Wayne. We were the first, and are still the only, optical company making digital lenses in Fort Wayne. While most other optical retailers receive their lenses from labs hundreds of miles away, you can know that your lenses are always being made right here in your backyard. Our laboratory technicians average over 20 years of experience and are skilled in creating customized high-definition lenses.
Giving back to our community
We believe it’s critically important to support and give back to the Fort Wayne community. We frequently perform free vision screenings for schools and nonprofit organizations to ensure that everyone has access to the best-quality vision care.
In addition, we donate thousands of dollars worth of gift certificates and products to local nonprofits for use in silent auctions and raffle drawings. We sponsor youth baseball and softball organizations throughout the city. And for four years, we were the primary sponsor of the Fort Wayne TinCaps Reading Program.
